Finally it came to pass: Griffith Park has been designated a historic monument.

For all of us who love the park this is a wonderful day.

  1. Karen Says:

So, will there be better protective regulations with the historic designation?

  2. Petra Says:

Oh yes, definitely. They can not just build there any longer and everything they want to take down has to be run by a committee which has 360 days to evaluate that request.

There are some more protective measure, but those two are the most important. There have always been moves of developers eager to turn the park into a money-maker by putting monstrous structures there – of course always placed at the most wonderful and impressive areas.

So, no more danger of that.

This decision is a big step forward towards keeping the park as it is – a place to go for Angelenos to enjoy without having to pay for the privilege.
