The absolute strangest sight I came across this summer must have been this little family:
May I introduce: Cleistocactus strausii, also known as Silver torch cactus.
What a pretty little group. And yet, don’t come too near – it would be one of those “ouch”-experiences.
It took me a minute to comprehend the photo. When I first looked at it, I thought the largest cactus had a strawberry twizzler stuck through it. I love cactus. All kinds.
Cactus are amazing, aren’t they? When I saw this little group I was a bit at a loss – they did not look very real to me, more like something someone had set up as a joke.
Back home I checked them up – they are for real. Quite funny.
